Hey folks,

Think i'v got the basics from this one, stuck on some of the remarks however, as usual.

post-9547-1143762024.jpg

I think the first line reads 'BW & VM retd (undisposed of) CRV' no idea what the CRV might mean.

After that...i'm stuck.

If anyone can help make me understand this one, i'll be most obliged.

Can I also check that I have the basics right?

This guy started off in the 9th Gordons and then transferred to the MGC. I think he transferred to the MGC before he left for France as all the medal roll ref numbers are for the MGC rolls? Have I got that right?

Thanks again,

Barrie

Your assumptions regarding his service in the Gordons isn't necessarily true. If he has the Gordons on his MIC, that's who he went overseas with.

His British War Medal and Victory Medal were returned. This could be because they were delivered to the wrong address. Sometimes you also see that they were reissued. CRV is the receipt voucher reference. It probably states KRs 1743 after this which refers to the section of the King's Regulations.
