Perhaps someone can help me. Thanks in advance.

XV1 was landsturm Bn 1 Straußburg -- Alsace. What is the connection to IR 246 and the litzen? 26 March 1916.

IR 246 part of 54RD. a Wurrt organization.

Though I am far from certain, it is quite possible that all three of the units represented in the photo were "daughter" units of the same peacetime regiment, i.e. they were affiliated with the same regimental depot.

Units formed by the regimental depots of the Guard Corps after the completion of systematic mobilisation did not bear the title of "Guard" in their regimental designation. Nonetheless, they might have had the right to wear "Litzen" on their collars. Likewise, a number of peacetime regiments other than those of the Guard Corps wore "Litzen" on their collars and I would not be surprised if the members of "daughter" units retained that right.
