oly2b Posted 29 March , 2006 Share Posted 29 March , 2006 My Great-Grandfather's MC contains letters on the remarks section can anyone decode these please? Is it normal to get six medal card images with the same name and different units from NA?
Stebie9173 Posted 29 March , 2006 Share Posted 29 March , 2006 A R Cl Z = Army Reserve Class Z. At the end of the war, the men who had signed up "for the duration" were not immediately dischrged but went onto Class Z Reserve until the Z Reserve was abolished in 1920, and everyone on it effectively discharged. Had the Armistice not held these men could have been recalled to the Army. Yes, it is normal to have six cards. They will almost certainly be for siz different men, and it was just the way they were scanned and digitised by the NA. Steve.
