The 8th Battalion never went to France, Tim. They were formed in early 1915 from the overspill of the 7th Battalion, and were effectively the Reserve battalion for the New Army battalions of the Northamptonshires.

WHo are you researching? If an officer he could have gone overseas with another Battalion of the Northamptons or been attached to an entirely different regiment.

Steve.

P.S. Busy weekend. Will send e-mail tonight!
