Terence Munson Posted 21 March , 2006 Share Posted 21 March , 2006 Bob, This is all I can find: William Dawson, 284grt, 21 August 1915, off Boulogne, mined and sunk, 5 lives lost. Cheers: Terry
Michael Lowrey Posted 21 March , 2006 Share Posted 21 March , 2006 The mine was laid by the small German minelaying submarine UC 5 earlier that day. I have the location of the loss as a mile off Boulogne with the little steamer carrying coal from Boston (Linc.) for Dunkirk. Finally, the William Dawson was built in 1872, making her one of the older vessels sunk during the war. Best wishes, Michael
