Hello everybody - I am looking for a 'H Wilkes' of the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment). His name appears on a memorial tablet - he possibly has links to Sheffield and he definitely was once a steelworker.

I couldn't find a H Wilkes on the CWGC site, so I started looking at different variations on his name and found...........

Harry Wiles, Private, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment), 1st/6th Bn.

Date of Death: 19/08/1915

Service No: 1652

I think this is my man and the name on the memorial was mis-spelt

can anybody do me a SDGW lookup

Thanks in advance

Robert.

Hello again.

I've found another possible for Harry Wilkes.

The memorial says W.R.R. for the regiment, which I took to be West Riding Regiment

However, if its the regiment that's mis-spelt - this could also be my man

Harry Wilkes, Serjeant

Regiment: Worcestershire Regiment, 3rd Bn.

Date of Death: 03/09/1916

Service No: 9328

Awards: MM

Son of David Wilks of Post Office Row, Wharncliffe Side, near Sheffield.

Can anybody help ?

Regards

Robert.
