Hello, could anyone advise as to which is correct?

The chaps MIC gives him as 2 Border R, K in A 28.6.18, while the CWGC states 1st Border Reg, died 18th June 1918, not sure which is is correct.

Did the MIC and the CWGC get their information from different sources? I thought the 2nd Batt. was in Italy at this time? perhaps he transferred?

The chap was 22049 A/Cpl Thomas W Jeeves, buried Cinq Rues British cemetery, France (E.12)

They were, indeed in Italy at this time (Monte Serona?). However, SDGW gives his battalion as 1st Bn and his date of death as 18th June.

Many thanks for that Dave, any idea where the MIC would have got the information from that he was 2nd Battalion and KIA 28th?

This is the chaps details, notice the Battalion is wrong and date of KIA is 10 days out, would this have been a clerical error or are there other records the details were taken from and perhaps the error lies with CWGC?
