Swally Posted 18 March , 2006 Share Posted 18 March , 2006 Guys, One of my Great Uncles returned from America to join up to fight in the Great War. I have a picture of him in uniform which I have been told was the RAMC, would he have joined in Aberdeen as that is where he hailed from and that is where he left his wife. I know that he had a glass eye which I reckon ruled him out of front line soldier duties I also have a picture of him at a writting desk that was taken in Cairo. Can anyone shed any light on this poser? His name was Alexander Allan Wishing you all the best, Swally

Swally I am reasonably sure that the place where he joined would have no effect on which unit he served with. He would have gone to a training establishment and then been attached to whichever unit required RAMC when he had finished his training.
