Rod Mills Posted 17 March , 2006 Share Posted 17 March , 2006 On Young Albert's birth cert his father is listed as Occupation 3rd/6th London Regiment 7th December 1916 and on one of his Medal Cards he is listedas 2nd/9th London Regiment Sjt 322532 and also Kings Royal Rifle Corps 52297. I also saw another card at young Albert's which said 1918/1919 A.Coy., Queen Victoria's Rifles BEF Any idea's why he would have two numbers Rodney
andyspiller Posted 17 March , 2006 Share Posted 17 March , 2006 Rod BTW your man's number 322532 is his 6th Bn number not a QVR one. See here http://www.1914-1918.net/TF_renumbering_infantry.htm for full details. Rgds Andy
Donny Anderson Posted 17 March , 2006 Share Posted 17 March , 2006 Hi Rod There is also the possibility that he was wounded and returned to another battalion. My Grandfather's MIC has four different service numbers on as he was supposedly wounded three times before being discharged in 1919 as being unfit.
