Cyril Gourley VC's brother

I have recently obtained the BWM & Vic pair to 690309 Gnr I G Gourley RA, the older brother of Sgt Cyril Gourley, who received the VC for bravery at Little Priel Farm, France in 1917 whilst serving with the West Lancashire RFA.

On Irvine's medals his number is shown as 690309, which indicates service with the 4th West Lancs RFA (278 Bde). His mic also shows the number 296861 and confirms the pair; does anyone know the unit to which this number relates?
