Remembered Today:

John Henry Slattery

Guest Tippman

Recommended Posts

I have the following info: Probably Royal Irish Regiment, definitely in the BEF. Awarded DCM, DSO and other medals. Fought in Boer war also. I remember seeing papers as a kid and would like to find out more. Some passages in those papers had extracts from MiD's as well. He retired as Warrant Officer for Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. I would be grateful if anyone has come across his name and details.

Thanks a lot

Doesn't appear to be anyone of that name in the DSO Book by O'Moore Creagh and Humphris, so I guess that means he didn't get a DSO before or during the Great War. Also not in Who's Who.

Just remembered a little volume I bought whilst on holiday in Ireland few years ago - "A biographical dictionary of Tipperary". I'm afraid there are only 2 Slatterys listed - one was the Most Reverend Michael Slattery, born in 1782; the other a John Slattery, 7764 2nd R Ir Rifles, died 7.7.16.

No joy there, either, then :(
