Hi there,

Last summer (May to be more precise) we were on holiday in Normandy and visited an old derelict chateau near Avarranches. Whilst there I found a postcard (see image below)

Left to Right Dann, Darnes & Johnstone

I'd love to:

1. Find out who accidentally lost it therem (and return it)

2. Find out a little about the 3 people in the photo;

The message on the back is:

A Souvenir from Sappers Dann, Darnes & Johnstone, BEF France 1917.

Anyone know who they are?

Search for the surnames, rank of Sapper in the Royal Engineers throws up the following in the MIC's online:

19 Dann

2 Darnes

99 Johnstone

A very long shot but I guess you could see if there are any 'hits' with near consecutive numbers although by no means guaranteed to prove anything.

Regards

Steve

Can anyone explain what the Regiment No is. Is it their unique Id or the number of the regiment in which they served?
