Remembered Today:

Do records exist of those sent home for treatment in medical returning

Family folklore suggests my grandfather was sent to Catterick and donned a blue uniform as he recovered from a shrapnel injury to his forearm. Can anyone point in towards any information about what could have happened after he was injured and whilst recovering? Could he have been sent back to the front? I now know he was downgraded to the Labour Corps and given a new regimental number (643826). Any help would be much appreciated.

If his service records exist at the national archives, this information should be present. And yes on recovering he may have returned to the front although in this case his fitness was not 100% so was placed in the labour corps.
