I'm trying to track down my Great Grandfather's military service. His name was Thomas Michael BERRY. Born at 19/1/1884 in Eastbourne, Sussex. He was a carpenter & joiner by trade. His parents were Herbert & Ethelunde BERRY and they lived at 152 North Rd, South-End-On-Sea, Essex. Assuming my Great Grandfather enlisted using both his names, and using the medals cards at the National Archives, I've narrowed it down to two Thomas M. BERRY's. Both are of which were with the Royal Engineers.

The medal cards read:

BERRY Thomas M.

Corps: R.E.

Rank: Sapper

Regtl No: 148960

Victory Medal: RE/107 B105 Page 44419

British War Medal: RE/107 B105 Page 44419

BERRY Thomas M.

Corps: R.E.

Rank: Sapper

Regtl No: 109647

Corps: R.E.

Rank: WR/

Regtl No: 289329

Victory Medal: RE/102 B50 Page 7901

British War Medal: RE/102 B50 Page 7901

His daughter is almost certain he was in the Royal Engineers due to his trade being a carpenter. She also recalls seeing a photo of him with a camel. My mother has a studio portrait photo of him in uniform holding a Pith helmet.

So any ideas where I can go from here? Can anyone offer any info?

Anything, no matter how small or trivial, greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Tim
