Andrew Hesketh Posted 10 March , 2006 Share Posted 10 March , 2006 I'm looking into a man (Private 30395 Horace Walter Matthews) who died of wounds on 6th October 1917, presumably from wounds received on the 4th when 5th Division was involved in the Battle of Broodseinde (how does one pronounce that by the way?). Is anyone able to supply any information relating to the period of the 4th - 6th? A War Diary extract would be wonderful. Thanks, Andrew
PPCLI Posted 10 March , 2006 Share Posted 10 March , 2006 Andrew, If no-one else gets back to you with what you are after then PM me with a suitable email address and I will photograph the relevant pages from "The KOSB in the Great War" tomorrow and email them to you (4 pages, plus very basic map). It seems to have been a bad two days: 2nd KOSB casualties (killed and wounded) were 11 officers and 438 ORs. I thought I had his BWM/Vic medal roll entry, but I seem to have missed two pages! Sorry. Stuart p.s. I think your cat has just ate your dog
