brownag Posted 18 September , 2003 Share Posted 18 September , 2003 I am hoping that one of the forum members has a list of the names on the Eton War Memorial. If so could they check if a Capt. Geoffrey Gunnis MC of the 3rd Bn Grenadier Guards is listed? Also does anyone know if Eton produced a Roll of Honour after the war? Thanks Adam
Terry Posted 18 September , 2003 Share Posted 18 September , 2003 Hi Adam, I have a copy of "Etonians Who Fought in the Great War MCMXIV-MCMXIX", and there is the following entry: 1913 Gunnis,G.G.,M.C.,Capt.Grenadier Gds. m. France (d.w.13.10.16) The 1913 indicates the year he left Eton; the "m" indicates a Mention in Despatches, and obviously d.w. is died of wounds. Hope this helps, Cheers from Canada, Terry
