It's just a simple BWM and victory named to 79 GNR. R.G. WALL. R.A.

WHY SUCH A SHORT NUMBER '79' DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT HIM ?? GLAD YOU NOW HAVE A PICTURE OF HIS GRAVE OR HAD YOU ALREADY VISITED IT ?

The short number doesn't actually indicate anything for the Corps although can be an indicator of Territorial Force service particularly in the line regiments. Each unit within the Corps started it's numbering from 1 so you can, on the face of it, have many medals to, say, the RAMC with the same service number. I haven't yet tried to research Gunner Wall nor have I visited his grave. A pleasure/duty for a future time.

HI JIM

THE REASON FOR MY POSTING AS I HAVE SAID, WAS BECAUSE THESE GUNNERS WERE ALL BURIED ON THE SAME ROW, AND UNCLE ARTHUR DIED 15.09.1916 FROM WOUNDS, YOURS ON THE 7TH SEPTEMBER, 1916. ARTHUR WAS IN 58TH BATTERY RFA, WERE THEY WOUNDED TOGETHER??? DID THEY KNOW EACH OTHER ?- YOU KNOW HOW WE WOMEN ARE, I COULD GO ON, .

IT PLEASES ME THAT THESE YOUNG MEN ARE NOT FORGOTTEN.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF GUNNER R G WALL?
