Age: 35 Date of Death: 15/09/1914 Service No: 4795 Additional information: Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Robinson, of 26, New Court, Retford. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Memorial: LA FERTE-SOUS-JOUARRE MEMORIAL New has reached Retford of the death of Pte J Bacon Robinson of the 2nd Coldstream Guards. (3rd ?) He was the son of Mr John Robinson, 3 Thrumpton Lane Retford who about 12 years ago kept the Durham Ox. Pte John Robinson was 34 years of age, was a clever violinist and was educated at the Wesleyan School. Pte Robinson would have terminated his time as a reservist in 3 days, when he was called up. He had arranged to be married when he had to rejoin hi regiment. Arthur Robinson another son of Mr Robinson is serving at the Front with the Royal engineers. However - The 2nd btn war diary shows some wounded and only 1 killed The 3rd btn war diary doesnt mention or casulaties So that doesnt really tell us any more - both are likely as he DoW received we dont know when Ian Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
