New has reached Retford of the death of Pte J Bacon Robinson of the 2nd Coldstream Guards. (3rd ?) He was the son of Mr John Robinson, 3 Thrumpton Lane Retford who about 12 years ago kept the Durham Ox. Pte John Robinson was 34 years of age, was a clever violinist and was educated at the Wesleyan School. Pte Robinson would have terminated his time as a reservist in 3 days, when he was called up. He had arranged to be married when he had to rejoin hi regiment. Arthur Robinson another son of Mr Robinson is serving at the Front with the Royal engineers. The greatest sympathy is felt for Mr Robinson.

Hello

well he is shown as died of wounds so could have been wounded another day.

However -

The 2nd btn war diary shows some wounded and only 1 killed

The 3rd btn war diary doesnt mention or casulaties

So that doesnt really tell us any more - both are likely as he DoW received we dont know when
