beverley Posted 8 March , 2006 Author Share Posted 8 March , 2006 Hi, thanks for the reply. Not sure if this has worked - it's F E Dick 2nd row left. Beverley
Stebie9173 Posted 8 March , 2006 Share Posted 8 March , 2006 The remarks mean Discharged under Kings Regulations Section 392, sub-section XVI (16) - No longer physically fit for service. (Probably due to wounds or sickness) Date 14th April 1917. He should have received a Silver War Badge - there may be a "SWB list" reference on the card or a separate card. The 2nd line refers to the medals that were returned to the issuers for adjustment and then presumably returned to the soldier. Usually happened when a name had been mispelt by the engraver. Steve. beverley Posted 8 March , 2006 Author Share Posted 8 March , 2006 Hi Steve, Yes he did receive SWB. There seems to be a confusion over whether he was FE or EF Dick. Should be Fred. Ern. Thanks for that - it explains it. Beverley
