I am reading this book and find myself wondering what French Pals think of M. Miquel. I know he has written several books and would like to know if he is regarded as a ' serious' author or as one of the lightweights.

he is considered an authority on the Great War but there aren't that many authors. I find his books somewhat bland, the Somme book was not that good but then it was aimed at putting the Somme battles back into the national conscience. Not bad for having an idea of what the French went through.

Thanks, that's the trouble with reading books from another culture. It is hard to place it in context. If you are not careful, you end up believing them.
