museum1418 Posted 5 March , 2006 Share Posted 5 March , 2006 Read in a Dutch newspaper dated 16th. February that the Citadelle of Verdun has been broken into by gaining access via an air-vent. Among the items that were stolen are rifles, helmets, machineguns, and various tools. Browsed the internet for additional information but can not find any reference to the story. The museum had just re-opened starting 1st. February with regard to the 90th. Anniversary of the Battle of Verdun. I am sure that the theft is a tremendous blow to all involved with the museum. Has anybody on this forum got recent pictures showing the rifles and machinguns on display, so we can all be on the look out should one of the items involved in the burglary appear on the internet?
