Guest Posted 3 March , 2006 Share Posted 3 March , 2006 In the process of tracing my families history I have obtained a copy of a medal card from the NA. The search on the NA only revealed the one card that carried my ancestors name but in order to ensure that it is the correct person(we know that he served in the 1914-1918 war). I wonder if more detail can be gained from the entries on the card, being a stranger to all things military I do not understand the inscriptions. They are as follows :- Corps : T.Res. 36th Reg. No: TR/8/15769 Cause of Discharge : AO.265/17 2(d)S Action taken: List C/268/1 Help on any, if not all of the inscriptions would be appreciated. HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 3 March , 2006 Share Posted 3 March , 2006 This is a Silver War Badge Card giving the details of a Soldier discharged from Military Service after enlistment & not liable to be fit for service, due to ill health, infirmity, age, etc; The Soldier concerned served in the 36th Training Reserve Battalion. He would not have served Overseas,If you obtain the SWB[War Badge} Roll page the Card refers to:List C/268/1,from the NA{not online} it will give much more detailed information, such as enlistment date, date of discharge, age, etc:& may give an exact cause of Discharge in words. A fuller description of the War Badge & its issue is given here::><::SWB Long Long Trail Link::>
