Geoff Parker Posted 22 September , 2003 Share Posted 22 September , 2003 Doug Have found the following info on 12th DLI's. 20th September 1917 23rd Div attacked at 5.40 am with two Bde's. 68th Bde attacked with 10th & 11th Northhumberland Fusiliers and 13th DLI. 12th DLI were in support. 11th Nothumberlands came under fire from a strongpoint in Dumbarton Wood, which they took after a sharp fight. A platoon of the Northumberlands, along with 11th West Yorks (69th Bde) went on to capture Herenthage Chateau. The remainder of the 11th Northumberlands reach Red Line. 10th Northumberlands continued the attack on the second objective and succeeded in take the Blue Line, its left flank holding Kantinje Cabaret. The 12th DLI in support also became involved in the fighting. 13th DLI attacked at 9.53 across the Menin Road at Tower Hamlets and were engaged by the Germans in the buildings along the road, which anchored their flank. They pushed on and took their final objective. Not much in the way of info on 12th DLI I'm afraid but gives you a picture of the action that took place that day.
