Lost in Tilloy Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Hi I'm trying to trace any information on the above unit. The NA catalogue doesn't appear to list a war diary and having typed 'Royal Garrison Artillery' in Google none of the sites lists the unit. However if you type in '335th Siege Battery RGA' you come up with a number of casualties from this unit listed on memorials, in fact that is why I'm interested in finding out more about the unit. I've been researching a soldier called James George MacKenzie [sometimes Mckenzie], Gunner 183491, 335th Siege Battery RGA [according to the CWGC site] KIA 31/05/1918. I've downloaded his medal card to try to confirm his unit but it simply says 'RGA.' Any help appreciated. Regards LIT

essdee Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 LIT A diary for 335 Siege is not listed at Kew. However, they hold a diary for the 59 HA Brigade, to which 335 were attached, under the following ref:- WO 95/322 59 Brigade Royal Garrison Artillery 1916 June - 1919 May The second diary reference is for the 22 Corps Commander HA. Second Army. WO 95/975 Headquarters Branches and Services: Commander Heavy Artillery 1918 Jan. - Dec From both of these you should be able to get a better picture of where and what 335sb were up to.
