The identity of the U Boat that shelled Scarborough on the 4th. September 1917. 2. I have three dates when U Boats shelled coastal towns : 10.12. 1914 DOVER 23.02. 1915 FOLKESTONE 15.02. 1918 DOVER Can anyone indentify the U Boats involved or give any other ifo. ? Cheers, Alan. DaveBrigg Posted 27 February , 2006 Share Posted 27 February , 2006 If I Remember Correctly... visiting Pendennis castle in the summer there was a story about a U-boat sighted nearby, shot at and claimed as sunk, that then went on to shell Barrow-In-Furness shipyards.
