Regulus 1 Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Hi, 5 December 1917, Flugmeister Haggenmiller of the I Marine Feld Jasta flies with some planes of the II MFJ when they are attacked by enemy planes, north of Diksmuide and he is as good as immediately shot down. His body was recovered by men of the Infanterie Regiment 227. His victor was probably Flight Sub Lt SW Rosevear of 1 N Sqdn. Any details known on this fight ? Thanks and best from Johan
MikeW Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Hi Johan, Don't have the 5th December in my records - at least can't see it in there, sorry. Mike
Dolphin Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Johan Flight Sub Lieutenant Stanley Wallace Rosevear, from Walkerton, Ontario, Canada, was flying Sopwith Camel B6428 of No 1 Sqn RNAS on 5 December 1917, when he was credited with an Albatros D.V at 1410 hrs. The Albatros crashed at Vladsloo, east of Dixmude. The 5 December victory was FSL Rosevear's first in a Camel, after being credited with 8 while flying Sopwith Triplanes. He went on to be credited with 14 victories while flying B6428, plus 1 while flying Camel B6419 and 2 while flying D3363, making his total for the War 25. B6428 was struck off on 23 April 1918, after its pilot Capt Gerald Atkinson Magor, from Montreal, Canada, of No 201 Sqn RAF, was killed in action on 22 April. I hope that this helps.
