Guest Bill Woerlee Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Mates During the Great War, there were incidences of fathers and sons joining units together. In the below photograph taken in a communication trench held by the 9th Australian Light Horse Regiment we see a father and son team. What is driving me to distraction is the identities of the two men. The father joinied the 9th ALHR while the son enlisted in the 3rd ALHFA. Also I know the father was KIA at Hill 60 on 27 August 1915. If they both had the same surnames then it would be a doddle. But I cannot place a name on the father or his son. I am just wondering if someone else has come across this pic and can identify the fellows for me. Cheers Bill

Guest Bill Woerlee Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Q and Hywyn Thanks mates. I apprciate the help. I have seen the pic with the description somewhere before. Blow me down, could I ever remember where? It was one of those pieces of information you recrod in your mind and mean to commit it to notes but never do until a couple weeks later you refer back and say: "Now where did I get that from?" and no answer. Guest Bill Woerlee Posted 26 February , 2006 Share Posted 26 February , 2006 Steve G'day mate Just had a look through his record and it's that 4th Field Ambulance business that threw me - I thought the fellow was in the Light Horse and so looked in the wrong place. Thanks for the heads up. Really appreciated. Cheers Bill
