The first one is no problem, i have identified him, he lies in Gallipoli I cannot find Frederick Thomas Mott or find anyone that could fit. I am now beginning to think this is the same person? Kate Wills Posted 25 February , 2006 Share Posted 25 February , 2006 Have you tried the Medal Index Cards and the 1901 Census, Anthony?
Anthony Bagshaw Posted 25 February , 2006 Author Share Posted 25 February , 2006 (edited) Kate, Yes i have had a look there. I think F T Mott Hyde was born Burton on Trent way (i think, haven't got my notes with me at the moment), but can't find him on the 1901. F T Mott, nothing obvious either. Cliff. Hobson Posted 25 February , 2006 Share Posted 25 February , 2006 Anthony I had difficulty tying down names on our Village war memorial, a contributing factor was that it was erected in 1924, two names I could not trace both of whom evidently died because of their war service one in 1921 and one in 1922. the cut off date for soldiers on the Commonwealth War Graves register was/is 31st August 1921. I finally found their obituaries in the local paper. Another one who caused difficulty was a man who enlisted under his adopted name Thomas Bostock Fox was medically discharged and re-enlisted under his birth name, Thomas Bostock, K.I.A. Loos Good luck Cliff.
