Tim Birch Posted 12 September , 2003 Share Posted 12 September , 2003 I can't get Channel 5 either. What was the verdict? Field gun or howitzer? Tim
Graham-McAdam Posted 13 September , 2003 Share Posted 13 September , 2003 The winner was Howitzer - apparently we all went on to use their systems. I thought it was fascinating, but then I know absolutely zero about weapons. They had a nice animated explanation of that strange complicated structure you see when a field gun is being loaded - the handle screws muzzle and barrel together - cunning. An interesting section about Le Cateau, after which they famously gave up having guns in the open in front of your men facing the enemy. The geographical animations were interesting, though Le Cateau ended up looking as if it was in the Himalayan foothills. Wrong!
