Glenn Posted 12 September , 2003 Share Posted 12 September , 2003 Whilst recently on holiday in Guernsey I visted the military cemetary and noticed a CWGC headstone for the 10th August 1914. The soldier from a Yorkshire Regiment was garrisoned there and one can only speculate how he died, but I would be interested to know who therefore is the first casualty of war? Terry Denham Posted 12 September , 2003 Share Posted 12 September , 2003 The earliest CWGC headstones bear the date 04.08.14 but these will be accident or illness casualties. The first battle casualties were extensively discussed in a thread only last month.
