Hello everybody.

I am trying to identify H. Burnley whose name appears on a memorial to the members of Loxley Methodist Chapel & Bible class who died in the Great war.

I have 4 possibles

1. Harry Burnley, King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry 1st Bn. Service No: 13033

2. Herbert Burnley, West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) Service No: 15/160

3. Harold Burnley, Royal Field Artillery "A" Bty. 50th Bde. Service No: 96142

4. Harry Raymond Burnley, Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment) 1st/5th Bn. Service No: 1859

Could anybody tell me if there is a Sheffield/Loxley connection?

Thanks in advance

Robert.

Robert,

They all have Yorkshire roots as per Soldiers Died but the only one with a Sheffield connection is the 1st KOYLI man who was born in Batley and enlisted in Sheffield.

Bob, Ironduke - I'd got my money on it being number 1.

Born Batley - this should enable me to find him on the census as well.

Thanks for the help.

Robert
