stevehowarth Posted 19 February , 2006 Share Posted 19 February , 2006 Ady From what I can glean from a quick look at Bales' 'history of 1/4 Battalion WRR, 1914-19', the 1/4 were taking part in the 3rd Ypres campaign. It mentions Belle Vue Spur as an offshoot of Passchendaele Ridge. They assembled at 5.30 am on 9 Oct at 'Pommern Castle'. The Germans had many pillboxes on Belle Vue Spur, and machine gun/sniper fire from Wolf Copse caused problems - i.e. holding up the advance by the 1/4.
