Guys,

I have been researching the many brothers of my Granda and their contribution to the War effort.

I have finally been able to just about close the door on one of them but need information with regard to his Service History.

James Allan was born in Aberdeen in 1895 to Robert & Elsie Allan I don't know much about him until he gets married in 1916 in Dunscore, Scotland. On his marriage certificate he was a serving soldier with the Royal Scots 1/10.

I know that this unit was disbanded around 1919 in Linlithgow, he went on to be an Oil Worker at nearby Broxburn. He emigrated to Barre, Vermont around 1925 and became a cleaner in a local bank that was until his wife died in 1934. The following year James put a pistol to his head an killed himself. He possibly couldn't get over the death of his wife. I have been lucky enough to get pictures of his headstone at Hope Boneyard in Vermont.

What I really need is a copy of his service records, would anyone be so kind to do a wee look up so I can complete the jigsaw.

Thanks in advance,

Swally
