Hello,

On obtaining the MIC of my Great Uncle I am at a loss to understands some remarks on the MIC.

I understand that Henry Winn was gassed but his remarks states

Dis 3qz xy1 or (I) 8.9.16

I understand Discharged 8.9.16 but could anybody enilghten me to the others?

Your help much appreciated.

I think it should say Dis 392 KR xvi {not sure with "or (I)"} 8.9.16

i.e. Discharged under section 392 Kings Regulations sub-section xvi (16) - No longer fit for duty.

This would then have triggered the award of a Silver War Badge (SWB) which is referenced to by SWB List {reference} which can be looked up in the Medal Rolls at Kew.

This will tell you date enlisted, date discharged (presumably 8-9-16) and unit discharged from.
