Guest trenchfoot Posted 13 February , 2006 Share Posted 13 February , 2006 I have an MID certificate for a SJT 18319 S.C.ROGERS, dated, 9th April 1917, I was told a while ago that he had been a Clerk, recently i went to the archive sight on-line and found two medal roll entries, one as SJT, the other as SJT/MAJOR......? Could he have been both a Clerk AND a Sjt/Major ?...it doesn't sound right to me. If anyone knows anything else about this guy ?.......... i would love to know where he served etc... HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 13 February , 2006 Share Posted 13 February , 2006 He may have been a Clerk{Pte/L.Cpl/Cpl}before promotion to Sgt/SM;as SM Many of his duties could well have been clerical anyway,if not delegated downwards
SteveE Posted 18 February , 2006 Share Posted 18 February , 2006 It would appear that he was also awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. A link to the London Gazette (#30722, dated 3 Jun 1918) is Here This entry states a rank of Flight Serjeant though
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 1 March , 2006 Share Posted 1 March , 2006 If his service papers have been released, they should be in air 79/202 at Kew.
