Desmond7 Posted 13 February , 2006 Share Posted 13 February , 2006 MIC to Thomas David Cotter ... can anyone explain numbering sequence. Was he MGC first or R Ir Rifles first? Any help appreciated and can someone tell me what the initials TTE would have meant on the side of a medal? Terry_Reeves Posted 13 February , 2006 Share Posted 13 February , 2006 Des, looks like he had service after the war with seven figure number. Normally the top unit is the on he served in first, but that's not always the case. My Grandfathers is out of sequence like that. Do the initials come after his unit? Desmond7 Posted 13 February , 2006 Author Share Posted 13 February , 2006 Now realise TTE is actually PTE. !!!! Ooops. The post-war service fits in Terry. This is for a guy I know. The picture he has is of the man in MGC 'uniform' .. i.e. with an MGC badge. He looks about 18 or 19 in the picture which has been 'painted in' if you know what I mean. Face is good but other details blurred. My guy seems to think that Cotter (above) may have served in Mesopotamia after the war in Europe was over. Thanks anyway will pass this on.
