Guest Posted 9 September , 2003 Share Posted 9 September , 2003 The group posted under "arm badge" has a cap badge as below. Can anyone identify it? I'm sorry it's such a poor image but it was the best I could do. Can it be identifed from the shape? It could be East Surrey Regiment or Royal Fusiliers Regiment I suppose. Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
Staffsyeoman Posted 9 September , 2003 Share Posted 9 September , 2003 From that scan, it is either the East Surrey Regiment, or the Wandsworth Bn (Pals) of the East Surreys.
Staffsyeoman Posted 9 September , 2003 Share Posted 9 September , 2003 This is the Wandsworths, but I think the scan the East Surreys. It's certainly not the RF, who wore a grenade. These are all from http://www.arbeia.demon.co.uk/srs/collect/badges The badges are repro, but generally conform to the original's shape!
Guest Posted 9 September , 2003 Share Posted 9 September , 2003 Many thanks for your identification. This means that the photos I have of my two uncles who died on the Somme in 1916 have been wrongly identified. Tom is Ted and Ted is Tom!! I won't bore you with the details . What a find!!! Thank you so much! Ray Hooper
