Guest Ian R Wallis Posted 10 February , 2006 Share Posted 10 February , 2006 I'm trying to find information on my paternal grandfather's movements in the Great War. I have his service documents but know very little about the battery's activities in France - 1/1 N Midland Battery. It being part of the RGA, information is hard to come by. I've seen a copy of the 41st Brigade diary but it only has about 4 entries for the Battery. I also read a very little bit in 'History of the Royal Reg of Artillery - Western Front 1914 - 18. Anyone any other ideas?

Graeme Fisher Posted 11 February , 2006 Share Posted 11 February , 2006 Stoke-upon-Trent was the base of the headquarters, battery and ammunition column of the North Midland Brigade RGA. Tucked away in a quiet residential area near the General Hospital in Wilfred Place, Hartshill, it is now used by the transport dept of North Staffs NHS Trust. I have nothing on the history of the unit, ufortunately. Graeme
