Guest Little Onion Posted 10 February , 2006 Share Posted 10 February , 2006 I am hopeing someone can help me or point me in the correct direction so i can get as much info about my great-grandfather for a in depth history of my family. I have his army number and the fact he was in the 47th machine gun company/regiment or something. his name is Albert F M Onion 122269 or 122629 i think its the second number to be honest. I also know he was captured by the germans towards the end of the war and spent time in a POW camp we still have a letter from King George that he received upon his safe return to england. he lived in and around the lemmington spa area. I also have a picture of him in uniform and would like to find out what the crest on his cap is as it does not look like a machine gun company crest. any help would be great. Guest Little Onion Posted 10 February , 2006 Share Posted 10 February , 2006 Yes that is the place i get the second number from the first number is from the letter we have from king george, i expect it was what we call a typo error seeing as its so close to his real number. cheers is there much info contained in the medical cards? such as where he was during the war etc?
