The Australian War Memorial is holding an ‘exclusive access’ evening for the new exhibition "Captured in Colour: rare photographs from the First World War", on Friday 12th September for Friends of the Memorial and other interested parties.

Captured in colour: rare photographs from the First World War offers the unusual experience of presenting images of the First World War in colour.

The photographs are a fascinating chapter in the history of photography.

The exhibition highlights the significance of the rare colour photographs by Frank Hurley and Hubert Wilkins, as well as several French photographers, and explores what colour photography brought to the task of officially recording the war.

Date: Friday 12 September 2003

Time: 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Place: Courtyard Gallery, Australian War Memorial

Cost: $12.00 for Friends of the Memorial and Friends of the National

Museum $15.00 for others

(Cost includes a Captured in colour pack, as well as refreshments during the evening)

If you are able to join us on this occasion please contact me on (02) 6243 4523 or jayne.baker@awm.gov.au by 12 noon, Wednesday 10th September. RSVP essential.

I am attempting to purchase a colour pack without attending (I live 500 miles away)

Peter ;)
