Can any Pal give me any pointers towards the service of this chap

He was born about c1869 in Hornsey, Middlesex & was resident in Hammersmith during the 1901 census. With his service no of 405 would he have been Regular or TF? All the roll nos on his MIC have LC prefixes & his date of arrival in France is given as 15 Nov 1915

I think it is likely he's 18th Middlesex but 16th and 17th were landing at a similar time and not everyman landed on same date. A quick look at m.i.c. shows a F/405 so rules out 17th battalion.

If they were on the same ship together, why didn't they land on the same day? Or did they come in different ships? Were some kept on board?

Definitely not 17th Bn.

Papineau,

To answer your question, in relation to the 17th Bn. They sailed in three ships (advance party, transport and rest of battalion). The advance party and the transport landed in France a day or two earlier than the rest of battalion.
