Tony Lund Posted 10 February , 2006 Share Posted 10 February , 2006 There may well be a history of the 1st and 2nd Battalions in most libraries in the old West Riding area, Huddersfield has one. Worth checking. Tony.
Tony Lund Posted 10 February , 2006 Share Posted 10 February , 2006 A Holmfirth man with the number 12088 enlisted at Huddersfield on the 4th September 1914 in a new army battalion, (9th Dukes) it seems they were taking their numbers from the same batch as the regulars in the 2nd battalion. So Collin Whitham’s date of enlistment was probably earlier than this. Tony.
