A Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) is a RANK in the British army immediately above a Colour Sergeant or Staff Sergeant (depending on your arm of service) and below Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1). His usual APPOINTMENT was as the Company/Battery/Squadron Sergeant Major although there were many other appointments that required someone of that rank to fill it. The best known appointment of a WO1 is most probably that of Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM).
