My main area of interest is the Indian Army in and around the Great War, so my resources on the British Army during the same period are quite slim. I hope its alright if I just jump right in... I was wondering if anyone knew who the commanding officer of the 1/4th Northumberland Fusiliers was circa January 1917? I am doing some research on a Corporal who was with the regiment, and later received a temp.commission. I have his signature dated 10th Jan.1917, and although I would not have quesed BD Gibson, I can read that name into it.
