My name is Christopher, and I am brand new to this forum. My main area of interest is the Indian Army in and around the Great War, so my resources on the British Army during the same period are quite slim. I hope its alright if I just jump right in...

I was wondering if anyone knew who the commanding officer of the 1/4th Northumberland Fusiliers was circa January 1917? I am doing some research on a Corporal who was with the regiment, and later received a temp.commission.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Christopher

Bob's presumption seems to be right.

Lt Col Bertrand Dees Gibson, 4th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers, was killed in action on 27 May 1918.

Dear Terry & Bob,

Thanks for the quick response, much appreciated. I have his signature dated 10th Jan.1917, and although I would not have quesed BD Gibson, I can read that name into it.

Best Regards,

Chris
