Guest Fiat500 Posted 6 February , 2006 Share Posted 6 February , 2006 My Grandfathers brother as named above was killed on the 9th May 1917, he was buried at Orchard Dump Cemetry, Arleux-en-Gohelle, France. This is all we know, but we would like to here from anyone who may know more about his & the Battalions role during the War. I can remember a long time ago as part of a school project asking my Grandfather about it and he was to upset to talk about it, he was to young for the first world war, but he lost one Brother Percy in the War, His other brother did return but died shortly afterwards in the Flu epidemic. Any Information, Help or guidance would be very much appreciated! Jennifer

Glyn Thank you Glyn, That was very useful. I purchased the Medal Cards and to my Suprise there were six! It would seem he moved regiments several times, so now I will have to work out what all the jargon on the cards mean relating to Regiments,Corps, Roll no & pages etc! But many thanks for setting me on the right track. Jennifer
priv Posted 7 February , 2006 Share Posted 7 February , 2006 Jennifer, For further information on the 15th Warwicks (the 2nd Birmingham Pals) - I would strongly recommend that you lay your hands on the book "Birmingham Pals" by Terry Carter - whio is if I recall a member of the FOrum. It is a great book that covers the history of the 3 Pals Battalions and contains many pictures. You should be able to get a copy form most military book sellers (try Tom Morgan also a Forum member). If not there arecopies on amazon etc. Good lukck in your research. James
Stebie9173 Posted 7 February , 2006 Share Posted 7 February , 2006 Jennifer, Just to keep you on track. The other five cards on the sheet are nothing to do with your man, they are completely separate men. They are just grouped like that for the NAs convenience when they were scanned. you only need to look at the one card with the 23578 number on it. Steve.
