Guest jadeguy Posted 5 February , 2006 Share Posted 5 February , 2006 I have an original reference to the formal medal rolls in WO 372 I wondered how to turn this into a modern reference in WO 329 so that I would know which document to order? The reference is RE 3C5 and RE 101B156 Would this refer to the Royal Engineers or is it more complicated than that? The soldier in question is listed as belonging to many corps including the RFA, RE, RGA, Labour Corp and Gloucester Regiment. Additionally what is the Labour Corps? Any help appreciated. Pte1643 Posted 5 February , 2006 Share Posted 5 February , 2006 Additionally what is the Labour Corps? Labour Corps were the "Sort of" early equivalent to the Pioneer Corps.
SteveE Posted 5 February , 2006 Share Posted 5 February , 2006 Jade I have an original reference to the formal medal rolls in WO 372 I wondered how to turn this into a modern reference in WO 329 so that I would know which document to order? The reference is RE 3C5 and RE 101B156 You'll need to go (or someone on your behalf) to the NA, Kew to do this, there are a number of volumes in the 'Microfilm' room which enables you to translate these references into the Medal Roll references you're after. Hope this helps Steve

Guest jadeguy Posted 5 February , 2006 Share Posted 5 February , 2006 Thanks Steve - Unfortunately, I've no chance of doing that in the foreseeable future, which is a great shame. I guess I'll have to wait on that one. And cheers for the link Harry Unfortunately, it is in a language I don't understand
