christopher Posted 2 February , 2006 Share Posted 2 February , 2006 Does anybody have any information on 2nd Lt. Ambrose Joseph Wilkinson - 6th Bn. Middlesex Regiment (attached 12 Bn.) He was killed in action on 26/9/1916 during Bn. attack on Thiepval Ridge. During this attack I know Pte F.J. Edwards and Pte R. Ryder of the 12th BN. both gained the Victoria Cross. Is there a chance someone has a copy of the Bn. war diary for that date and if so could they please check to see if 2nd Lt. Wilkinson is mentioned at all. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. Thankyou chris
christopher Posted 3 February , 2006 Author Share Posted 3 February , 2006 Forgot to mention that I have a copy of The Somme VCs by Gerald Gliddon which mentions Edwards and Ryder - but no information as yet about 2nd Lt. Wilkinson. Hope someone will be able to help with the war diary. Thankyou chris
