Devons 27th May 1918

What battalion? What happened please?

On 27 th May the local newspaper records that the Devons attacked on the Aisne

and suffered badly.

No details are given. What battalion was it and what happened please?

Thank you.

Thank you Dave.

Your information has enabled me to find the other forum on this site. Which contains the details of the battle Semper Fidelis indeed.

As always the people on this site are so helpful.

Jack,

Haveyou checked out this thread:

Aisne- Chemin des Dames Battle May- June 1918, 8th, 19th, 21st, 25th, 50th Divisions: Chemin des Dames

There is a long section from the regimental history of the Devonshire Regiment devoted to the actions at the Bois des Buttes.

Regards

David
