pilot Posted 2 February , 2006 Share Posted 2 February , 2006 Hello I'm looking for information regarding the 30th Division at the end of March 1918, especially general Wille (HQ Moreuil) commanding an artillery subsector under french general Mesple on 29th March. Best regards
6th Shropshires Posted 2 February , 2006 Share Posted 2 February , 2006 Hi pilot I can't help you much with 30th Div., only to say that they were placed under orders of the French during the early hours of the 28th March. I am interest to see you are from Thennes, the unit I am interested in, the 6th K.S.L.I. were in support on the 29th March. It had formed a defensive flank with its right flank at Thennes, with orders to hold the bridgehead near Thennes at all costs. I was just wondering if you have any maps of the area ? Robert Dunlop Posted 2 February , 2006 Share Posted 2 February , 2006 According to the British Official History, the remnants of 30th Division were withdrawn to the rear to rest on 29th March. There is no mention of General Wille at all. Presumably the artillery remained with the French but I have no evidence one way or the other.
