CarylW Posted 1 February , 2006 Share Posted 1 February , 2006 Caernarvon & Denbigh Herald May 18th 1917 Gifts to the front Headline: "Thanks for kindness" No-one is more grateful than a soldier for comforts. Mrs Fletcher Tan-y-graig recently sent to the front a pair of socks and in one of them she placed a shilling piece. This week she received the following letter from Pte. H W Hamilton of the South Wales Borderers who received the socks: "Many thanks for the pair of socks and the shilling piece I found in one of them. It came in very handy. I am sending you a small crucifix. It is just rough. I made it in the trenches. We have had a terrible lot of hard weather, but it is much better now out here. I hope the weather in Wales if fine just now. Thanking you again" Possibly this is the soldier?
